Is there a reasonably priced hotel close to Abu Dhabi Airport? I'm aware of the Airport Hotel but that's airside and, at $205 (A$315 to me), it's not reasonably priced for a few hours sleep. I'll be arriving at Dubai airport at 7.55 pm and leaving Abu Dhabi airport at 8.40 am the next morning. I can get a taxi from Dubai Airport to the Dubai Etihad office then get the Etihad bus to Abu Dhabi airport but the last one is at 11pm so I'll be in Abu Dhabi for most of the night.

Alternatively, can I get access to a lounge prior to checking in as I may not be allowed to check in until 5.40 am?

you may look for an hotel in Dubai close to Dubai Ey Bus Station where at any hours there are buses which go direct to Abu Dhabi International. If your next flight is an Etihad flight, you shouldn't pay anything.

I did know there was buses at any hour not the last one at 11pm.... :((

However, the Abu Dhabi Airport web site (http://www.abudhabiairport.ae/services/transportation.asp) has an Etihad bus timetable that shows the last bus as leaving at 11 pm and the first the next morning at 5.30 am. If the 5.30 am bus is on time and does only take 55 minutes, that would just do. Does anyone know how reliable these buses are?
