i guess we are talking about the ankor wat temples here.
Getting a good guide there is suprisingly easy.
UNESCO went in and supported education of tour guides a few years ago and that means that the standard of the tour guides in Cambopdia is among the highest in all Asia.
Just make sure that it's a certified guide or you might end up with some taxi driver who knows nothing and just want to take you to souvenier shops.
But as long as they have the guide certificate then you can be quite sure that the standard is high.
The local tarvel agencies in Siem reap (there are dozens of them) can find you one, and your hotel can most likely find you one too.

You can write to Mr maung Maung of mandalay Inn, a nice place to stay, at www.mandalayinn.com and arrange a guide and a car through him. I usually recommend that you have a guide at least for one day and then do another day without the guide but with a car and a driver

You can email my friend Borin at borin_bun@hotmail.com

He is a registered Temple Guide, and walking encyclopedia. He will walk you through any of the Angkorian temples and interesting places along the way. He can organise an aircon car too. You can also call him on +85512993616. I caught up with him last month for my third visit to Siem Reap and me and his mates had some interesting time visitng some remote sites. Yes I am obsessed with Angkor and Siem Reap:) Borin is a good friend and I have no problem recommending him. Let him know that Peter, the bush tucker man from Melbourne sent you.
