Parking in Prague
Posted: Fri March 6, 2009 01:30 PM UTC
Hi, I will take a one day trip to Prague with my car and I wonder how to avoid 20 EUR overnight parking fee to the hotel. Are there free parking spots in the streets or all the parking places are hourly with ticket?

Any suggestion around Panorama Hotel - Milevska no.7 street?

Your hotel is in "free parking" zone - I mean you can park for free on the streets, no ticket needed.

Since I do not live in that are I can't recommend any particular place. But keep in mind that since there are so many cars in the city it might be quite difficult to find empty spot near the hotel, especially in the evening when everybody comes home.

Thanks for the tip, I will come to the place before 12am, leave the car, leave the luggage at the hotel and head then with the metro to walk in Prague, so hopefully I will find a good place for the car overnight.

Are there any safety issues with foreign cars? I mean should I take precautions not to park in specific areas that might be private or something.

Well, you have to take usual precautions against your window being smashed and items from car stolen as foreign cars are more likely to be targeted.

Not sure if in that area are many places park on the open streets or mainly in parkings next to the apartment houses. In latter case locals might be angry that "stranger" car has taken their spot even that it is not marked... Since I do not have car it is difficult to offer best strategy....
