Bali Bali Wedding

Hi:
I am trying to decide on a place for my upcoming wedding. We are looking at Indonesia and Costa Rica. I have noticed the airfare to Indonesia from the US is quite expensive. Does anyone have any flight ideas or travel ideas?

Hello, first of all congratulations on your forthcoming marriage.
No suggestion for flights, but I assume you have investigated the costs and regulations required for getting married in Indonesia (Bali in particular as I assume that's where you mean due to the location for the posting)

#It is possible to arrange a wedding by yourself here, but it is time consuming and if everything isn't right then it is also stressful.

To arrange a legal wedding is going to cost around $300 per person for the fee's to the American Embassy, the Religious Authorities (Depending on your religion), and the civil authority. That price does not include the venue, photographers, cake, flowers etc or any accommodation. (If you arrange it yourself you have to be in Bali for a minimum of 10 days before you can perform the ceremonies, so you have to plan for at leat 12 - 14 days accommodation, there is a way to get this waived but it is not so easy to get for anyone who has arranged everything themselves, and is not guarenteed.)

You could employ the services of a wedding organiser, which is more secure (obviously more expensive)most offer 2 levels of service,
1/ Just the legal arrangements are made and it is your choice of venue, cost for this around $500 (not including flowers, photographer, cake etc, but includes arranging for the religious and civil representatives to attend your venue at the appropriate time.
2/ Wedding organiser arranges everything for you including the venue and lots of other things (photographer/flowers, cake etc)cost depends on venue.

I apologise if this sounds patronising and you have already put these calculations into your planning, but you should not just be comparing the price for the flights, you should be calculating the total package, and the amount and ease of legallities which are required.

Bali is a wonderfully romantic place to get married, and there are many people now who are choosing here to other places in the world.

Congratulations again and we hope you have a wonderful life together wherever it is you get married.
