Yes, I suppose you could walk if you had 3 months free. However since the distance by road is 4400 km or 2750 miles the best options would be to drive, take the train or fly.
Driving 2750 miles takes 3 or 4 days of hard driving. Taking VIA Rail Canada takes about 3 1/2 days at a cost of $600 Canadian Dollars. Flying on Air Canada takes about 5 hours at a cost of $450 Canadian Dollars.

Guess it is whatever you value your time at, if you have lots of time then Via Rail, if you value your time then fly. You should also check Westjet, and depending on when you are flying Sunwing Holidays, they have very inexpensive flights from Vancouver to Toronto.
