Hey everyone,
I will be at Abu Dhabi airport and I have 3 hours between my two flights. I know its not very much time but I have been to abu dhabi airport before and since it was not the most pleasant experience i would like to spend as little time there as possible. I would like to leave the airport, i.e. i would have around hour to spend outside the airport. it will be around 9pm. is there anything close to the airport that i could do? even if its just a walk. do you think its safe for a european girl in her early twenties to go out alone at that time of day?

I would not leave the airport for 3 hours. The airport is 32 km from Abu Dhabi city, in the middle of nowhere.

Pay the AED 100 to enter either Airport Hotel Lounge or Ghazal Lounge.

I agree that you don't have time to see anything worthwhile outside the terminal but things may not be as bad as you think. I understand that the new terminal is at least partially open and that should improve things.

Well as those guys said .. you cant do anything within 3 hours .. leaving the airport though custom will take an hour maybe esp if they put you through the new terminal for ittihad then it is a really long walk and well if it was dubai international you could’ve done something in the neighborhood but this one is in the middle of nowhere yo need to drive half an hour to reach the nearest mall or so – just few villas from khliphaB suburb and the underconstruction masdar city - since you have been before i think you can tell it is a very safe place to be -
