Toronto Self catering apts for short stay?
Posted: Tue March 3, 2009 05:51 PM UTC
I'm a first time poster, so excuse me if I don't explain myself well.

Here goes, we are a family of 6 travelling to Canada in August, we will be staying 4 nights in Toronto and I would like to book an apartment in downtown Toronto. We have 4 children (ages 13, 10, 6 & 2) so an apt makes more sense re feeding, laundry & containment! Does anyone know of any reasonably priced apts that would fit us? Just looking for clean & centrally located. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This sounds like a trip my wife, I and our 4 children made back in the 1990's when they were 12, 9, 7 and 7. You will definately want to stay in the downtown area and then you can take buses, trams, and the subway anywhere you want to go. I am not familiar with apartments in the area, but we did stay at a 2 room suite which was a little crowded, but had enough room to sleep 6. It did not however have a kitchen.

You might try a Marriott Residence Inn. I have stayed at Residence Inns on a number of business trips and a couple of family vacations over the years and they have a full kitchen and laundry facilities. You will spend a little more money, but they are always well kept up and maintained.

The website for the one in downtown Toronto is:

I agree that you will want to be close to public transportation. It's easy to use and should get you pretty much anywhere. If you can't find affordable hotel accommodation, you might consider renting out a house or an apartment like you suggested. Check out www.istopover.com for some possible options.

Many thanks for your replies, we're still searching for somewhere that can accomodate 6, centrally located, safe & reasonably priced. I looked at the Marriott Residence and thought it looked perfect until I saw the price - unfortunately its beyond our budget. Every time I think I've found somewhere, I then come across negative reviews and back out of booking it - I'm a bit of a wimp. Anyway the search will continue!
