Cyprus or Syria? January weather?

I'm trying to decide where to spend January?

I'm doing a trip in Turkey which ends in January, and I have two options afterwards

1) Syria (I am interested in an entire tour of the country, in January, but I am unsure about the weather, and access to natural highlights, like mountains, coast, desert, etc...If January is a bad time to tour around Syria, let me know why.

2) Cyprus (also in January), I've heard Cypriot Springtime begins early, so I am thinking about Cyprus. I'm not sure about Cypriot natural beauty in January? I don't like skiing, but I do like mountain photography. How's the whole island of Cyprus in January.

january is fine.
it just gets a little chilly in the evening but thats usually it.
there should be nithing stopping you from seeing the sights there and it is one very interesting country.

It will be snowing in the mountains up north that surrounds Banyas,Latakia....and all subsequent towns and villages ...etc. the roads get blocked usually and you wont be able to go up there.Other than that chilly/cold/rain but fine ,sometimes is snows in damascus too.
