Is there any cheap way to get from Miami to the Bahamas? Is flying the only option? Are there cheap airlines going that way?

I would contact local travel agencies from Miami or, check on the Sunday herald section under travel.

The Bahamas as you know are a string of islands stretching over a fair bit of the ocean with multiple airports which have direct flights from Miami.
There are cruises just to the Bahamas.
If you wish to travel just one way to any of the airports in the Bahamas, the fares tend to be expensive. Round Trip fare to Nassau from Miami, occasionally is around 145 usd but usually is close to 200 usd. one way fares tend to be very expensive for the short distance travelled.

Spirit Airlines offers excellent specilas from FtLauderdale. Check for their $9.00 specials.

Spirit airlines is a budget airlines, I have never flown them, occasionally i fly Bahamasair or American airlines to nassau to catch my flight to Cuba. today i try to find out how much would be from fort lauderdale (somewhat north of miami,not that convenient for me) to nassau for a flight one way in two months time.. the total price came out to 130 usdollars.. including taxes..
I would rather fly a regular airline, like American Airlines from Miami airport to Nassau airport..
