Bristol Budget Accommodation in Bristol
Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 07:22 PM UTC
My friend and I will be in Bristol for a night on 11th April (Sat), and are looking for budget accommodation in central Bristol. We would ideally like a B&B, and prefer not to share a dorm room in a hostel, but are willing to if we have to. Although we are older students, we are still on a student budgets!

Thanks in advance for your help!

www.hostelworld.com will give you hostel ideas (many now have separate rooms, not just dorms).

You can find b&bs etc on the official tourist info site here:

TRavelrepublic are a well-established company. I don't think you need to be concerned.

However, I doubt they will offer the cheapest accommodation in Bristol!

I stayed at a place in the city centre in January that was amazing - £61 per night for a whole apartment for 2 people (30 quid each)! It was right next to Cabot Circus - Geometric Apartments http://www.geometricapartments.com

Hi
Did you ever discover budget accommodation? I am seeking the same in Bristol, near the station or buses, for October. For me 60 GBP is too much.
Thank you.

I did discover this for from 35 GBP a night. But it is near the airport, so not so good for the city centre.

You could take a look at these budget hotels where it is sometimes possible to find very good deals - best booked at the very least 24 hours in advance. For example we have a Double room booked in an Innkeepers Lodge in Portsmouth tonight for £29.99 inc. breakfast. (advance Saver Rate)
Yesterday I saw Travelodge were advertising Rooms from £19

Hi
thats very useful information, thank you. I will stash those sites away for any trips around the UK!

Unfortunately the cheap deals don't seem to include Bristol for some unknown reason.

Any other VT'ers know any cheap hotels in Bristol??

Cheap deals do not usually include hotels in city/town centres or convenient locations.

That's why they are cheap deals!

Truly, the best place to look is on the official Bristol website. It lists all local accommodation.

I'd leave it a bit anyway. Looking now for next April is really too far off. Check the Travelodge etc sites nearer the time (say, February) for deals, and have a look at www.laterooms.com as well (though I've never found anything useful there).

Hi

I have discovered that the YHA have private double rooms (share bathroom) from 21.98 GBP pp pn. Or you can have a the same room for yourself, but pay the double rate. Its reasonably central, near the Floating Quay. I havent stayed in one for years, but I am going to investigate.

I should add that the prices quoted for the YHA are member's prices.

A none members supplement of €3 per person per night will be charged on arrival for those guests not in possession of a valid YHA England & Wales or equivalent IYHF/ Hostelling International membership card.

The hostel is listed on the Visit Bristol site, and on the official YHA site here:

http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/index.aspx

I believe hostelworld charge a booking fee, so it might be best to book through the YHA or tourist info site.

"Cheap deals do not usually include hotels in city/town centres or convenient locations."
Sorry leics but I have not always found that to be the case. For example Perth City (Scotland, of course!) - we had5 nights there on a deal @ £29.99 per night for two with Breakfast.
Beaconsfield 2 nights, same deal on a w/e in high season for a family wedding.
Last night in Portsmouth (Hilsea) barely 10 minutes to the city centre and ferry port; we had our car but it's on a direct bus route. In fact at some city centre places that have midweek business travellers it is often at weekends that good deals are to be found. It's always worth a try anyway.

As for Laterooms - as someone else already said above - I have never found what I would call a good deal. Two of my grown up children whose work involves a lot of travel rate the site highly - but when I asked what they called a good deal I found I would want 3 nights at least for the price they quoted for one.
These things are always relative, aren't they.

Not always, of course, but usually..depends entirely on the hotel chain, the season and how desperate they are!

School hols are usually a no-no for any type of deal, of course. And the less-conveniently-plced hotels in chains such as Travelodge (or those is less popular places for tourists) are, in the main, those which have the cheaper deals most often.
