Hotel recommendations - Railey Beach West or East? Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 09:14 AM UTC
We are staying 3 nights in Krabi in march, and we're not sure wether to stay on Railey Beach East or Railey Beach West. We heard that the West beach is the most beautiful, but it looks like the hotels there are more expensive. Any recommendations for a nice, not too expensive hotel?

Railay West is definitely better. Railay East is mostly mangrove and the beach is not as nice. Note that the only way to get to Railay is by long-tail boat from either Ao Nang or Krabi town.
Ao Nang is more convenient in terms of transportation, dining and accomodation options, but the beach, in my option is nothing great.
However, if you still decide to stay in Railay, just walk to Phra Nang, just a couple of minutes away from Railay. But be sure to get there early in the morning to save your spot as most people from Ao Nang go there.
Be warned that beaches does get really crowded.
Hope that helps.
