Hypogeum and Hagar Qim

Is it possible to visit the Hypogeum and Hagar Qim in one day, if using the bus service to travel around?. Would you need to return to the bus station between trips?. How much are the buses? (I have already booked the tickets for the Hypogeum for mid April and there were not many left). Thanks

I visited them both by bus last year. You could see them both in one day. You need to change buses in Valletta, as I recall. Bus numbers 38 and 138 got to Haqar Qim from there. You could also see them both on the Malta open-top bus tour, but that's quite expensive. Remember you need to book the Hypogeum well in adavnce.

will give you winter and summer bus routes, and clicking on each will provide you with the timetable.

Buses on Malta tend to radiate to/from Valetta, so you will probably have to return to go out again.

It would be a shame not to visit the Tarxien temple complex whilst you are nearby (i.e. visiting the Hypogeum). I found this to be as imposing as the Hagar Qim complex.

Bus prices are very reasonable. I can't remember exactly (did not use a bus last time I visited) but I doubt you'll pay much more than 2-3 euro at the most.

Buses are cheap on Malta, but schedules are not very reliable, and you need to backtrack a lot. When we were there we just rented a car, as this allowed us to see a lot more. Renting a car is not expensive on Malta.

I think you will have to go back and forth from Valletta, what I did was get the 38 or 138 to the blue Grotto then get a taxi to Hagar Qim on another day get the bus to Paola and go to the hypogeum amd walk to the Taxxen temples. The buses are cheep and it could be done in one day if your ticket to the hypogeum is in the morning or late afternoon but dont be late at the hypogeum or you don't get in.
