Vancouver Japanese Stuff @ vancouver
Posted: Fri February 27, 2009 04:18 AM UTC
i heard of this place called KONBINIYA Japan Centre at Robson Street.....is it huge? I want to get lots of japanese stuff like bento accessories and snacks and cutey stuff...how is this KONBINIYA Japan Centre compared to Daiso? Cos Daiso is at Aberdeen Mall, which is at Richmond and so far....and if KONBINIYA Japan Centre is quite huge and has a lot of stuff, can i skip daiso? or is the aberdeen mall a good shopping area?

MOST ITEMS AT DAISO COST CAD $2 WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CERTAIN ITEMS COSTING $3,4,5,6,7,8 . DAISO IS LOCATED IN A CHINESE MALL : ABERDEEN MALL. PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST THINGS AT DAISO ARE NOT MADE IN JAPAN. VERY FEW ITEMS ARE ACTUALLY MADE IN JAPAN. MANY OF THE ITEMS ARE MADE IN CHINA. IF YOU WANT TO BUY HELLO KITTY OR OTHER CUTE JAPANESE STUFF, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THEM AT THE STORES AT ABERDEEN MALL. AS FOR KONBINIYA Japan Centre at Robson Street, THINGS ARE EXPENSIVE. ROBSON STREET IS CATERED TO TOURISTS & SO THE PRICES ARE HIGH. YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING BENTO ACCESSORIES IN JAPAN TOWN (PAST CHINATOWN) BUT IT IS I TO GET NCONVENIENT TO GET THERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A CAR. IT IS NOT LOCATED IN THE BEST PART OF TOWN.

PLEASE NOTE THAT JAPAN TOWN IN VANCOUVER IS NOT REALLY JAPAN TOWN. IT IS AN AREA OF SCATTERED INDIVIDUAL SHOPS/GROCERS. IT IS NOT AN IDEAL PLACE FOR VISITORS TO VISIT FOR JAPAN TOWN IS NOT A NICE AREA OF VANCOUVER. PERHAPS I SHOULD SAY LESS DESIRABLE AREA. YOU MAY RUN INTO A FEW OF THE HOMELESS PEOPLE...DRUNKS...IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.IN ANY CASE IT IS LOCATED BETWEEN EAST CORDOVA STREET & POWELL STREET.THESE STREETS ARE NORTH OF HASTINGS STREET. JAPAN TOWN IS BETWEEN CHINATOWN & LITTLE ITALY.www.tourismvancouver.com will provide you with general tourist info along with an interactive map if you want to zoom in on a certain area.www.translink.bc.ca will provide you with local transportation: eg. bus route, bus schedule, cost of bus...etc.
I HOPE THIS HELPS!

No that place is a glorified grocery store with some distinctly unfriendly staff.
