Is Sanur Beach Hotel safe and recommendable Posted: Tue February 24, 2009 10:34 PM UTC
Dear all,
kindly adv if Sanur Beach hotel and its surrounding area is safe and if you would recommend it?
is it too remote? I do prefer a quite beach but if it is too quite i would rethink my decision.
Any idea how much a taxi would cost from the airport to this hotel?
Taxi is counted by meter?
Many thanks for your response
Warm Regards
johnnie

Sanur Beach Hotel is a good hotel, the beach is quieter than say Kuta or Tuban, it is even quieter than some parts of Sanur itself.
As to how safe it is, that is difficult to define,do you mean safe from Earthquakes, Tsunami, Terrorists, Crimminals, or what ? it is as safe as any other place can be,(maybe more safe than Poppies II in Kuta from crimminal element) the entrance gate from the road to the hotel is very secure with security guards on duty 24 hours, and the long drive to the hotel lobby. Sanur is a reasonably safe place in general, as is most of Bali.
Sanur Beach is a little bit remote, but it is still ok to get into Sanus and enjoy the night life there, be it less rockin and rollin than in Kuta or Legian.
Airportto Sanur Beach by taxi would have to be by airport taxi which is more expensive than the metered taxi's around 130,000rp.This is a fixed price, not metered and not negotiable. But Sanur Beach hotel operate a pick up service in one of their vehicles, you should ask about this with the hotel if you decide to stay there.
Taxi's from off the street can be metered or not, it's up to you, if they have a meter, ask them to put it on, if they don't make sure you agree the price before you get in. (if you don't know what the price should be, wait for a metered taxi), Bluebird taxis are considered to be the best most honest and reliable, (but there are always exceptions to the rule.)
There are other Hotels as good if not better than Sanur Beach, closer to the action so to speak, you should check out a few more.

Sanur Beach Hotel is excellent. The breakfast is great, the pool is huge, you are right on the beach. They also have a bar right next to the beach, happy hour and the chairs around the bar are swings. There also is music there at night. The SPA is excellent, in fact when we stayed at other hotels in the area we used the SPA at Sanur Beach Hotel. There is also a work out room. You are close to other restaurants on the beach. In town there are also a couple of good restaurants right near the SBH, Mezzanine Restaurant is excellent, Cat and the Fiddle is also good. Walk out the entrance of the hotel, turn right and keep walking and you will find all kinds of shops, restaurants, etc. John
