Damanhour - Alexandria

Hi
I want to visit Alexandria then Damanhour and a place near there that was called El Rico (my family lived there a long time ago) there seems very little info about Damanhour, hotels, station etc I'm wondering if I should stay in Alexandria and just visit Damanhour I'v no idea what is there now. Also it seems hard to find hotels that are neither luxury tourist hotels or back packers hostels. Anyone got any ideas

its only 70kms far away from Alexandria,so for sure you can stay in Alexandria and go there.
