Brisbane Decent Hostels
Posted: Sun February 22, 2009 01:39 PM UTC
Hi VTer's!

I am planning a year (possibly 2) to Australia at the end of the year. I am currently trying to look into everything I am going to need and I was just wondering if anyone out there has got any good websites/recommendations for any hostels (anywhere - as I do plan to go everywhere while I'm there!) in Australia that are any good?

I have had a couple of recommendations so far - but looking for a few more recommendations please!

I am looking (at the moment, as it stands) to be flying into Brisbane at first... so mainly looking for that sort of area first.

I would be grateful for any replies - cheers!

Kayleigh, if you havn't yet, have a look at Brisbane Backpackers Resort, 110 Vulture Street, West End, and Somewhere To Stay, corner of Brighton Road and Franklin Street, Highgate Hill.

Both are very close to the city - only a 15 minute walk via either the William Jolly, Victoria or Goodwill Bridges. Also near South Bank Parklands with its inner-city beach!

Have never stayed there but know it quite well. Allways full of backpackers. The suburbs of West End and Highgate Hill (adjacent to each other) are very cosmopolitan with lots of restaurants and other entertainment in Boundary Street. Because of its location and transient population you'll have to take common sense precautions against theft of property, which you would do as a matter of course in most places.

Somewhere to Stay seems to have a good vibe!

Hope you find what you're looking for!
