Key West beach safety

Any tips for not getting your things stolen at the beach? I am going with just my husband and would hope we could swim together but I didn't know how safe it was to leave your belongings on the beach. Do any beaches have lockers?

Will the beaches be unbearable or overly crowded in July?

Thanks for your help!

I don't remember any beaches with lockers- but I usually take the minimum. Things like towels, sandals and suntan lotion are usually safe to be left on the beach, but I take a minimum of cash, credit card, etc. with me and put it into a waterproof container that can attach to my suit. I don't take the camera or expensive sunglasses unless someone will be there to watch things, and if I am staying at a hotel, I usually just drop the key at the desk and pick it back up when we get back from the beach. Haven't been there in July, so I can't help you there. Hope you have a good time, and if you get a chance, check out ferry ride to the Dry Tortugas- good snorkeling, the old fort to explore, and just a little something different to do.

you go to the beach with the minimum ,the rest your hotel should provide a safe deposit box. Have not heard ever of problems there, used to go a lot but a few years ago. the beaches do not have lockers. the crowd will be big in July, we all used to go down the keys in the summer months. But nothing unbearable just fun at the beach.
