Pakistan Pakistan VIsa not required for Nepali nationals for upto 30 days stay?
Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 12:21 PM UTC
I am a Nepali citizen and will like to visit Pakistan -alone for sight seeing and meeting few friends soon,i have read in the Pakistan government website -
http://www.pakistan.gov.pk/divisions/ContentInfo.jsp?DivID=23&cPath=221_225_599&ContentID=2513
that Nepali nationals D0N0T require a visa to enter Pakistan for a maximum stay of upto 30 days. Can anybody tell me if this is still valid and I plan to travel to Pakistan by bus or train from india so can I still enter Pakistan without visa?I wplan to stay there for about fifteen days.
I have tried contacting the Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal but they dont have any valid email id and their phone isn't reachable
however I have contacted the Embassy of Nepal in Pakistan and they have sent me a mail saying that we donot require a visa to enter Pakistan for upto 30 days stay no matter how we travel to Pakistan-by air or land or by train.
Can someone please tell me the valid visa rules now and also if I have to carry any document showing that I dont require visa tv enter pakistan-so that the authorities at the border donot create trouble
Thank you

I think for confirmed info you have to personally visit Pakistan Embassy/high commission in Nepal.

As far as travel by road is concerned you will be entring thru India border. So their rules and regulations also matter.

Nepali citizens donot require any visa or passport to enter India.however we do need a passport when entering India from any country other than Nepal.
The main issue here is whether we still can enter Pakistan without VISA.Indian authorities have no regulations about people exiting the country-in any way either land or air

Hi,

No one could confirm it because the Pakistan visa procedure is very complex as well as the embassies and consulates abroad.

You better conatct the Pakistani embassy in kathmandu, they could provide you with authentic information.

Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Maharajgunj, Chakrapath, Kathmandu
Telephone: 4374 024
Fax: 4374 012

Bon voyage,

I have mailed the Embassy of NEpal in Pakistan and they have sent me a mail saying that we can enter Pakistan by air or land without having visa and stay there for a maximum of 30 days.Is this mail sufficient along with the print of the page from the Pakistan government website and the PTDC wesbite saying that nepalese don't require visa to enter pakistan for 30 days stay?

Look madam. Your information & documents are very much sufficient but try to understand our concern.

1. We (people on the forum) are not authorities.
2. You are entring Pakistan from Indian Border and you know the situation between India & Pakistan these days. So we can't comment that HOW the officer at the border will treat you. At the time of crossing Indo-Pak border you will be thousands miles away from your home. So if any problim arises there you will be in a difficult situation.

So in conclusion email & website links are very much sufficint and GUARANTTED if you dirctly fly to Pakitan but for travel by road you should make some extra effor to take some written approval with Pakistan Embassy's Seal on it.

Yes that is a very nice suggestion.
I also have to ask a final question on this
Incase I get a visa from the Pakistan Embassy in Nepal can I travel to Pakistan by land through India by bus or train?
The reason for land travel is that flights are very costly-charging 600$ for PIA for KTM-ISB
So can anybody tell me if I am allowed to travel to Pakistan with a Pakistani visa through India by land?

Hi,

You could take an overland trip, the official entry point from India is Wahga border that is almost one hour from Lahore city.

If you get a pak visa, you could travel overland to Pakistan, no worries.

I wish you very happy travels,

The others have already given solid advice. The only problem you may face is that many of the officials working at the border may not actually know the rules about visas for Nepali citizens.

Entering Pakistan via Wagha and then going to Lahore is easy. If you have a visa, you shouldn't have any problems. My only concern would be that the officials may not know about the current visa policies and give you a hard time. If you could get a contact number in the Kathmandu office that you could call, that may help. Officials may try to get "chai-pani" out of you.

Thanks for all the help
The safest way out would be flying to Pakistan without a VISA as it would be a direct one from Nepal to Pakistan.
For the route via India I would definitely visit the Pakistan Embassy before leaving.
Even the PTDC said that the officials at the border are aware of this visa rule but still I would take a written document from the Pakistan Embassy here.
But I tried contacting the Indian Consulate regarding if they have any exit requirements but I got no response
A Chinese national was arrested from Attari a few days back he was trying to cross to Pakistan overland and had a valid Pakistani VISA but he was detained as he didn't have an Indian VISA and also that it seems a special permit is required to cross the Attari Wagah border by land ( I guess for SAARC citizens)
if you aren't using the train or bus and crossing b foot.
Thanks again for the help I will visit the Pakistan Embassy soon.
