Amman Walking in Amman
Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 12:34 AM UTC
We will be in Amman for one day, in the morning we will be going out to Jerash and we would like to spend the afternoon exploring Amman. Can anyone recommenced a route we can walk?
We would like to visit the Roman Theater and the Wild Jordan Café as part of our tour.

Thanks

Amman is built on seven hills and they are steep! Taxis are cheap.
Take a taxi up to the citadel. Take a walk around and visit the little museum there and then walk down the hill to the theatre. From the theatre take a walk through the souq nearby and along to the Al-Husseini mosque (not open to non-Muslims). Everything is close together and you can't really get lost. When you've had enough of walking around and it's getting towards sunset, get a taxi up to Rainbow Street and the Wild Jordan Cafe.

Thank you. Finding a street map of Amman proved difficult, the Amman City Tour map is quite good, but my resolution is not clear enough to read the words easily, the picture of the Amphitheatre was my best clue!
Knowing your route was close enough to walk between places helped me to interpret enough to find them, it looks great, I really appreciate your help.

Hi!

Walking in Amman IS difficult in a sense of difficult crossing streets, but I found it more exciting than taxi or bus, you see the life. There ios a bookshop with some newly printed map on a long street that leads from Hayat Hotel to Old city. Approximately 45 min. to walk.

Have a nice tour,

Andrey
