State of Tasmania renting a house/cottage/apartment/whatever in Tasmania
Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 12:28 AM UTC
If a group of a minimum of 5 grown adults were to travel to Tasmania for a couple weeks, where would we find a decent place to rent for us for about 2 weeksish? We are looking for a 3 to 4 bedroom place to share thats not to expensive, but not to poorish either if that makes any sense. Any ideas? Assuming that Hobart is a good place to be to do day trips out of. Is there a good second choice outside of Hobart to do this same idea. Do a "one week here, one week there" type idea. Any ideas would be wonderful.

I'd recommend one week in Hobart and one week somewhere up North / North West. Launceston is an option - ugly town but excellent base for day trips.

Yes, you will need to sleep in different areas as Tasmania is larger than one would think, there is a lot to see everywhere and I would suggest at least the 2 places previous poster has mentioned. There are holiday apartments in both cities, I,m sure there would be 3 bedroom ones available, or else hire 2 2 bedroom apartments. I stayed at the Old Woolstore apartments in Hobart and enjoyed it, they definitely have 2 bedroom apartments.

I think you need two separate locations as well. Tasmania is one big Island!

I travelled with my husband and inlaws to Tasmania for Christmas a couple of years ago and we stayed at a lovely place in White Beach (link below) which sleeps up to 6 adults - it is a quiet little place which is in between Hobart and Port Arthur (you must get to Port Arthur - a fascinating historical site). We did plenty of drives/day trips from here. You'd have to like peace and quiet if you stay here, though... there is not much around!
