tax free on arrival a.o.

Hi to everyone!

I have few questions:

1. If there are tax free shops in the Beyruth International Airport arrival area (I would like to buy some sigarettes)?

2. It will be my first time in Lebanon and I'm a heavy smoker (it's really bad...). Should I take my sigarettes with me or are they much cheaper in Lebanon than in Europe?

3. I'll need a taxi from the airport to Byblos (Jbail). Is it expensive?

4. Is it safe to visit Baalbek?

There is a tax free shop in the airport, you can buy all the cigarettes you need there. The average price of cigarettes is 1$ USD and the most is 2$USD , that is with tax and all, in any super market in Lebanon = so I'm sure Lebanon is much cheaper in price when it comes to cigarettes.

Taxi's are a Bargaining matter, so you should Bargain your way to the best price , there is no fixed price here and no meters, but since Byblos is 50+ Km from the Airport and depending on what time you arrive, if you arrive late- night hours then price is higher, I wouldn't think it will be cheap.

It is Safe and fine in Baalbek, nothing happening there, so enjoy yourself but expect colder weather in Baalbek than in Byblos, much colder.
