I am going to Krabi end march 2009 and would really like to know hotel somewhere at AO nang beach .my budgect around 2500 baht a night with 2 kids along .any suggestion ??
Can I rent a car as i did in phuker before ?any rental car company around AO nang Beach??

I stayed at Tipa resort. Not right on the beach but quite charming.

Have you checked Trip Advisor? It rates the hotels worldwide based on guests reviews. I've found it to be very accurate.

I arrived at Krabi La Playa Resort after an 18 hour flight, exhausted, to be shown to our 5th floor deluxe room. Half an hour later, just as we were settling in, we get a call telling us we've been given the wrong room and we must be down graded because the hotel was full. Our complaints were met by a laughing manager, who gave the impression this happens quite a lot.

House keeping: Towels are very tatty and would be better suited to the poolside. Also, house keepers would routinely ignore 'Do not disturb' signs, bolted doors or shouts of "No, go away" and continue to bang until you let them in. This would usually occur between the hours of 4-7pm, when we were getting ready to go out.

Despite the hotel though we had a brilliant time in Au Nang. Can really recommend Nemo Tours just outside of the hotel. Staff are really helpful and tours are cheaper than those off the main drag.
Also do really good laundry service.

Also recommend Hippies bar for great hospitality, atmosphere and great food and drink selection.

The night food market was bar far the best place to eat at night. Particularly the second stall in ( think they've got the red chairs).
Even better was the night market in Krabi town and a third of the price of Au Nang. However, the rest of the town seemed empty away from the main port

Buri Tara Resort It is a nice and cozy hotel. Relatively new and clean. However, it is off the main road and we had a hard time trying to locate it. It is also not along the beach. Location wise, fairly well, 3-5mins walk to the minimart and the stretch of shops for shopping! Around 5 - 10 mins to the beach. Tours,taxis, massage are expensive from the hotel but was pretty good price outside on the street.

The beds are indeed 2 single beds pushed horizontally together, which have a habit of moving in the night.

The pool is nice and a good size, but unless you cared to get your towel on a bed before 8.30am, you had no chance.
