Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Agadir Agadir, Taghazout and surrounding areas in a week, alone and on a small budget
Posted: Mon February 16, 2009 10:28 PM UTC
I visited Morocco in February 2007 and saw Marrakesh, the Atlas Mountains, Casablanca and Essaoira. It was a great trip but I never made it to Agadir. I have a week at the start of March and want to get down there and enjoy some beaches and sunshine. I have looked at some websites and it said about 70 degrees which is about what it was when I went last time. Is this realistic? I really want some sun after a bleak british winter.

I have never really tried surfing properly and want to try it at Tagazoute. What is the accomodation like there? Is there much of a backpacker scene there? What is the accomodation like? Can anyone recommend any good hostels or budget hotels? I'm travelling alone but usually have no problem meeting people to hang around with.

Beyond Tagazoute and Agadir are there any other places that people would recommend in the area or south of agadir?

Due to extreme climatic changes the World is experiencing at the moment, trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local, on the day variations.
Most places now are seeing weather conditions well outside the norm.
The information below should be used as a guide only.

Here is the average weather for Agadir for this time of year.
Enjoy your holiday.

Have a look at my pages on Agadir and Morocco - the fishing village of Imousouane north of Agadir is really popular with surfers - as you can see in my pics there - and yes Taghazout is still a surfie town with lessons and rentals advertised - and south of Agadir down at Aglou its also a popular surfers spot. and thenon a bit further south at Mihrleft and Sidi Ifni.
theres a good hotel at Aglou which was cheap enough when I stayed there off season/March or something a few years back - and Taghzaout Im sure youd find something - I know theres a few places in the pockets of tourist resorts along the coast there.
my friends a Moroccan-Norwegian couple who travel from Norway to their family in the northern coastal outskirts of Agadir each year love Taghazout as their favourite spot.
the whole road up to Essaouira is great tho and is worth grabbing a car for if you can. Agadir is known as one of the cheaper places to rent a car as well.
and of course there are surfers destinations on up the coast to Essaouira esp at Sidi Kouki and Diabat and Essaouira itself.
have you invested in a Lonely Planet or Rough guide guidebook for mMorocco tho as therell be some info in these books that will help.

all the best.
