Canary Islands Traveling alone in Canary Islands

I am hoping to go to the Canary Islands and do some hiking on Tenerife and La Palma. I am mostly concerned about personal safety issues(crime, etc.) of traveling alone there. I am pretty aware of normal safety issues about hiking alone.

Any experience people are willing to Share?

Hello and welcome to Virtual Tourist.

I never had any problems with crime (been to Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and La Palma). On both islands i've been hiking a bit with my girlfriend, everybody we met was very friendly...

Especially La Palma is great for walking, very quiet and pure...Enjoy! I've got some descriptions of hikes on my pages if you're interested.

There are several good hiking guides for La Palma. You can buy one before you go, or try to get one on the island. Make sure you have a detailed hiking map as well, with the trails on it. There are may trails marked with GR (long distance), PR and SL.
