Re: Papal General Audience... Posted: Sun February 15, 2009 01:57 AM UTC
By "next month", you mean "March"? Please note that there is only one General Audience next month, on Wednesday, March 11
(see http://www.vatican.va/various/prefettura/en/udienze_en.html ).
Also see http://www.santasusanna.org/popeVatican/popeVatican.html
which is the website of the American parish in Rome and the source of good information.
As for what time it starts...duh, I don't know. I didn't see it on either website, and I just remember from the audiences that I've been to that it was perhaps late morning? 10:00? 10:30? Hmmmn, well, even if the audience starts at 10:30, you'll be there a lot sooner than that, just because it takes a while to get everyone arranged, and now that there is security...well, come early and be prepared to wait ;-).
Are cameras allowed? Is the Pope Catholic? Amen, they are allowed. See my Vatican City page for photos of Pope Paul VI in the Audience Hall, where there were so many cameras flashing that I didn't need a flash on my camera, because I picked up everyone else's. And I have photos of JPII with me in the background about 20 feet away in an outdoor audience...I need to scan these in and post them here...
In fact, I don't know what percentage of people actually see the Pope, except through a viewfinder ;-)
