Kuta area beach hotels Posted: Sat February 14, 2009 12:07 PM UTC
I will be going to Bali end of March, and I would like to stay in the kuta area for about 2-3 nigths, the rest of my trip I will stay in Ubud.
I would like to book a hotel in Kuta by the beach, my budget is 100 US per nigth, is it possbile?, I found the Inna Kuta but it seems they are doing lots of construction, is there anything similar?

you may not get a beachfront hotel for $100 but there are plenty near the beach. The Bali Rani is nice, the Aneka Kuta Beach is nice too but we didn't stay there. The Rama Garden at Legian Beach is OK - all under $100.00.
Check out sites such as hotelclub (http://www.hotelclub.com.au) and Bali Hotels - http://balihotels.com/

Hi,
Inside Inna Kuta is ok, the construction work for the new shops, the gate to the beach and the front of the hotel are complete now. (or at least most of it is complete)
There are plenty of hotels which you can get for well within your budget, especially during the low season.
When you say you are coming at the the end of March, is it going to be after March 26th? because on March 26th this year it is Nyepi Day, which is the day of silence, when you won't be allowed outside of the grounds of the hotel, until the 27th you will have to keep fairly quiet in the grounds, and at night (from around 6:00pm) you have to stay in your room with the curtains tightly closed, low lights and the TV quiet, and there will be no lights on in the hotel outside of the rooms, until the morning of the 27th.
I only mention this so that you are aware, if you are here for that day, it is better to be in somewhere more comfortable, and make sure that you buy some extra provisions, (food soft drinks etc from the supermarket,) in your room for during the night, because even though the hotels still provide breakfast lunch etc (probably buffet style, as the staff arn't really supposed to cook anything)and there won't be any room service.
Also do you really want to be in Kuta? Tuban as the previous poster has mentioned has some nice hotels. Santika Beach for example is within your budget, it is beach front (unlike the Bali Rani). Dynasty is another one in Tuban which is within your budget and is beach front.
The Bali Rani is a great place, the rooms are comfortable and a good size, it is about a 5 min walk to the beach, but that part of the beach is undergoing some renovation work and isn't so good at the moment, so you would be better going a bit further down, so about a 15 min walk is to the better part of the beach.
The Inna Kuta is the only real beach front hotel in Kuta, the others are all set back or accross the road. However the Mercure is really nice, and within your budget, Aneka Beach is getting a bit old now, and because the management are not sure about the future of the hotel (the owners of the land arn't renewing the contract) they are not spending too much on renovations/maintenance at the moment, so it is getting a little bit tired in the Ankea Beach hotel.
Kuta Seaview Cottages are ok.
The Melasti is only just ok but still within your budget.
Hard Rock Hotel is a lively place to stay, close to the action in Kuta, close to the beach, and within your budget.
All this has probably not helped and maybe confused you, I would say that the Inna Kuta Beach is probably the best choice if you definately want Kuta and Beach Front, and you should'n worry about the renovations, they are alomost complete and there is very little disruption for the guests inside anyway.

Re: Kuta area beach hotels Posted: Thu February 19, 2009 01:51 PM UTC
I just got back from staying at the Vira Bali in Tuban -- we walked down to the Discovery Mall and Waterbom area in about 10 minutes everyday. Maybe less -- we weren't exactly timing ourselves, but it seemed like a really short walk. But my room was $72 US a night -- that's the superior room rate, but I was in a deluxe room because I had a long-stay package.
I have to admit -- I wasn't totally impressed with the beaches but I think it had more to do with it being rainy season. But the Vira had a nice pool, so I didn't really miss the beach that much!
Have fun!

Just got back from Bali yesterday, for the 11th time. We stayed at the Bali Garden Beach Resort, directly across the road from Waterbom Park. It was terrific. The grounds are lovely, the 3 pools were magnificent. One of the pools is an infinity pool, right on the beach, overlooking the ocean and the whole Kuta beach, and the sunset is unbelievable. We paid US$53 Night for 2 people. and an extra US$15 night for an extra bed. They also have family rooms. They have a king size bed, and a double decker bed for the kids. You can contact them direct on www.baligardenhotel.com
The hotel is a great location, everything is nearby. Centro shopping mall is next door, and has many eating places, KFC, Pizza hut, Starbucks and many more. You won't be disappointed. I took with me 5 other people who hadn't been to Bali before, and they were very impressed with the hotel and the location.
If you need a driver, I can recommend my driver who I have used on each trip. His name is Agus Kuswana and his email is gil.agus@hotmail.com. He is a very reliable driver and very good with children. My email is kstedfor@bigpond.net.au if you need any more information please don't hesitate to contact me. Happy to help you.
Have a great trip...Kerry...
