This reply is a bit late to be very helpful for you, but I still thought I'd chime in for others considering the Octopus resort. We stayed at Octopus for a week in December 2008 and absolutely loved it!

It rained a bit (but not a lot) while we were there. This caused us some problems the first night because we weren't expecting rain and had left towels and bathing suits drying in our shower. The showers are open on top, which is a very neat feature but not good for drying things when it rains! We were fine for the rest of the week because we hung our things inside the following nights. We definitely didn't have any issues with the inside of our bure getting wet.

The bigger problem with the rain was that it caused the staff to cancel a number of the resort's scheduled activities. The trails became too wet and slippery for walking and the ocean was often a bit choppy. But, the staff was well prepared with rainy day activities. We spent much of the rainy times reading on our porch, but the resort also organized basket weaving, movies, and other indoor games.

Aside from the rain, we loved Octopus. The various activities were lots of fun, the staff members were extremely friendly, the food was outstanding, the snorkeling was amazing and the beach was gorgeous. Plus, we also really enjoyed the strong relationship between the resort and the nearby village that made us feel better about vacationing in the backyard of such hard workig people. We never thought of ourselves as beach vacation people, but we are already thinking about future trips to Octopus!
