I'll be traveling with my girlfriend to Siem Reap so I'd like to use someone trustworthy and knowledgeable of the area. I'm looking at angkortourguides.com because it was recommended in the other post, has anyone tried them?

Also, what is the heat like in mid-March? When does the rainy season start? Thanks for the guide recommendations.

You'll find that you can hire guides from the hotel you stay at or even hire a guide or driver when you are picked up by taxi. The driver usually freelances and has a "friend" who is a guide.

i take danish tour groups around the world for a living and often make use of local guides in various countries.
one of the best local guides i have ever come across is a guy from Siem reap callled "Por Heng"
He' english and french speaking and his phone number is: (855) 012833952

i might add here that the official guides with the approved tour guide education are generally of a very high standard in siem reap.
when ankor wat was declared world heritage UNESCO helped to fund a tour guiding school in siem reap and that means that the local guides there probaply have the highest standard of any tour guides in south east asia.
just make sure that it's a guide who's actually educated and not just a driver with limited english.

mid march should be ok for you.
the rainy season does usually not get really bad until may, but that can change slightly from year to year of course.
march should not be a problem though.
