Saint Petersburg Playgrounds and parks in Saint Petersburg?
Posted: Thu February 5, 2009 08:44 PM UTC
I will be visiting Saint Petersburg at Easter with my four-year-old daughter. She needs a place to blow off steam now and again. Are there any parks or playgrounds in the area of Bolshaja Morskaja, where we will be staying? Or any parks elsewhere in the city easily accessible by metro? Thank you.

I stayed there years ago as a student and, although we didn't have time to go to parks, I remember that we went to the beach once. There were some merry-go-rounds, swings etc. nearby. I can't remember where it was but the local people are bound to know.

You can visit Alexander Park - in 10-15 minutes walk from B.Morskaya. Go along Nevsky Prospect to Palace Square and then cross Admiralty Prospect and you are in Alexander Park. The direction is to Admiralty Steeple with weatherwind in a ship form (the symbol of the city).
Another park is in 15-10 minutes walk - it's Michailovsky Park near Russian Museum. Go from b.Morskaya to Nevsky then turn right and go to the Clock Tower and Gostiny Dvor department store and then turn left via pedestrian subway anf go to Russian Museum (Michailovsky Palace). Park is beyond the palace.

Hi Kay,
it was a big swing set in the park between St.Isaac Cathedral and the Peter's I
monument, by the embankment and Admiralty.
It is very good to play in the Summer garden too. It is 30 min walk with child from your place by the Hermitage along the Millionnaya street, Mars field and Summer garden entrance from the embankment side.
Enjoy your walks!
