Ilheu Cadaque Cadaque in October 09

Going to Cadaques for one day in October. Mission is the Dali Musee/and home, dinner at Casa Anita, and just soaking in the quiet coastal town. Have read most of the Cadaque pages. What is the weather like in early October. A bit concerned we could be hit by "tramontana". Need a central location hotel reccommendation. Price range 80-100 Euro/for 2. We are mature travelers (a bit older but not decreped). Would also like parking nearby. I understand there is a community parking lot. Does anyone know if it is secure/safe?

Traveling into Cadaques from Colliure, France. Is the coastal road a difficult and long drive (time)? Would imagine the views are fabulous.

Since we don't have a lot of time in Cadaques would like to maximize time. Any help would be appreciated. VT memebers never fail me!!

It's roughly about 40 miles if you take the coast road - and yes the scenery is spectacular. You should allow at least one and a half hours driving time - the road twists and turns for miles; there are a number of viewing points where you may want to have a photo-stop.Parts of the road are amongst the most beautiful I have travelled.Collioure itself is beautiful.
The notorious wind sometimes blows for two or three days or more, sometimes it blows up and subsides much more quickly. I have experienced it more in March and April.

You may find the linked article about Cadaques (below) of interest.

Thanks Ranger, we meet again. I've heard that coastal drive can be a "nail biter" but wanted to be sure it was worth it, and had the proper time frame set aside. There is no easy way to get to Cadaques.

Hello again! Sorry I was not too sure where you wanted to stay for the night but assumed Cadaques as you plan to have dinner there - and did not imagine you would want to brave the return journey to Collioure in the dark! (days will be quite short by October)
Sorry can't help with a hotel in Cadaques as we have not stayed in the town.
