Hi, I am travelling to Cape town in march. I have a connecting flight but only have 40 minutes to catch it, what happens to my luggage. Do I have to collect it or will it be transported onto the other plane. Is 40 minutes enough?

If you are flying Qatar Airways all the way your luggage will be checked through to your final destination, so you don't have to collect your luggage at Doha.

If Qatar Airways accepted a connection time of 40 minutes you should be OK. I know connecting to Colombo via Doha also have similar connection times, and in case of a delay on the incoming flight Qatar Airways delay the outgoing flight to let connecting passengers connect.

That's right, when you check in, to be doubly sure, just tell them to check the baggage through all the way to Cape Town.

If you are flying Qatar, take a change of clothes in your hand luggage and assume the worse. They have a bad reputation, including with some folks on here, of not being good with bags.

Always a good plan anyway.

If the connection is short, any airline can fail to transfer the baggage. I've lost count of the number of times my case has been left behind in Frankfurt and Paris. It has always arrived on the next flight.
