Amman Using ATM's

Are using ATM's in Jordan safe? Also are the exchange rates and fee's reasonable? Or would my best option be bring US cash and then just exchanging it? Any advice would be appreciated!

I was in Amman in the first week of Octomber. (Missed my connecting flight to Frankfurt,& had to stay 36hrs in Amman)
There was no problem using ATM. I had to pay 1 Jordanian dinar for the service, and my bank home charged me flat fee of 1.50 GBP.
Regarding the currency, the Jordanian Dinar is strongly suported by the Govermant and the Royal family , so they do not have flactuation of the curecy. It is always linked with the euro.
€1= 1Jordanian dinar.
I had $US but I didn't use them, as when converted, I would get less in the excange office than out of the ATM. The excange office try to charge me 6 dinars for the transaction.I tought that was rip off.
Hope this helps.

If you have time look around at other banks and credit unions. Some offer fee free withdralws abroad. Its a good gimick for new customers and not something that costs them a lot of money to do.

Jordan is a low crime country as well. I carried ATM cards AND cash. Outside of Amman is gets rural - not many banks and ATM's.

Have a great time.

Probably a darn side safer than using an ATM at home. I'd still take some dollars if you're travelling outside Amman as ATMs are few and far between once you leave the city. Credit cards are quite readily usable in Jordan but you will still find places that don't accept them. The currency is very stable but but Jordan is rather more expensive than you may be expecting and the dinar you withdraw in Amman may run out sooner than you think.

It is safe to use ATMs and cards in Jordan. Most of the ATMs accept visa or master cards. same thing goes for shops and restaurants.
Don't use the bank to exchange your money - go to local exchange shops.
Also, most of the shops, restaurants, accept US dollars.
