Salvador da Bahia Salvador to Olinda - flight prices and buses
Posted: Sat January 31, 2009 03:27 PM UTC
wondering if anyone has recently flown to Recife from Salvador and knows what the prices are round trip, am having problems with Tams´ site. Also, same question for the bus and how long is it to Olinda via Recife and can it be done overnight? Or are there any other suggestions for places to visit nearby Salvador for two - three days that are small and friendly for a single female traveller. Thanks

the bus ride from salvador is an overnight bus ride that takes around 12 hours.
long distance busses are very good in brazil.
around the same standrad as you get in western europe.

i have flown the stretch too, but i was using a TAM airpass at the time so i don't know the exact price.

So the choice is to stay around Salvador for a few days or go to Recife/Olinda?

around Salvador (do some basic research on Google and YouTube:
Praia do Forte/Diogo
Guarajuba
Itaparica
Morro do Sao Paulo/Boipeba
Cachoeira/Santo Amaro
Chapada Diamantina (current conditions?)

airlines:
Gol www.voegol.com.br
Webjet http://www.webjet.com.br/empresa/novosite/v2/index.asp
OceanAir http://www.oceanair.com.br/empresa/site/

Main Brazilian bus site link with directions for use:
http://www.backpackingbrazil.com/?q=node/47

Olinda is about 30 minutes from Recife.

There have been several recent reports on the Brazil travel forums of robberies on the overnight buses on the Salvador north route. The best idea might be to break up the trip and travel the shorter distances during the day. There are a number of nice beaches between the two cities (, Sitio do Conde, Maragoggi, Porto de Galinhas, etc.).

Boa viajem.

Olinda is very close to Recife. I'll mail an attached photo to your VTadress showing both cities together. I am nearly to be assured when I say probably you will find some public bus from Recife to Olinda.

There are many spots near Salvador. I will list some of them:

* Praia do Forte
* Morro de São Paulo
* Ilha de Itaparica
* Porto de Sauipe
* Barra Grande
* Ilheus/Itacaré

I believe you will find these places at Google. You may send me an e-mail to
schedule this brazilian trip. It's free.

Last month while I talked to TAM airlines for AIRPASS in Brazil,they offered me the regular flight with identical iterinary a little cheaper.You may want to try talking on the phone given by your Airline for Brazil.

Tam seems to be very expensive even for their Airpass. I believe Gol is the only airline providing the online reservation with AE/Visa/MC issued outside of Brazil. I've booked a 50% discounted fare at Gol's website a few days ago.

Hello!
One of the most interesting places to visit in Brazil is Salvador. The city has a lot of beautiful beaches, with warm and transparent water, old and historical places, like Pelourinho, and too much culture everywhere: capoeira, music, candomblé, exotic food, etc.
If you're going to visit Salvador, take a look at this website: www.salvador-bahia.tur.br. The website has informations about touristic attractions in the city and other nice places to visit next to Salvador, like Praia do Forte, Itaparica, Ilha dos Frades, Morro de São Paulo, Cachoeira e São Félix. It also has informations about good Hotels do stay in and it's possible to do online reservations with safety.
I'm from Italy and went to Salvador in January. I did my hotel reservations online in this website, it worked very well!
Hope it helps.
