Glasgow stag do in Glasgow
Posted: Fri January 30, 2009 05:44 PM UTC
Im organising a stag weekend in Glasgow in May for 10-12 lads aged 27 to 60 approx. Can anyone suggest good spots for a bit of crack and a good drink or anywhere else we should go or for that matter, avoid.

Our hotel is in the city centre.

It will be a lively group but no idiots. All hints or suggestions welcome.

Cheers

There are plenty of great bars around the city centre but bouncers are not likely going to entertain large groups so stick to no more than 4 at a time.

For a bunch of bars that will be lively try Ashton Lane in the West End. Some of the bars also do very good food; Brel, Bar Buddha, Ubiquitous Chip. These do close early but the nearby Oran Mor is open to the small hours.

Don't wear ANY football colours or replica jerseys under any circumstances.

If you do, you won't get into anywhere & you're likely to get a doing.

The Park Bar at 1202 Argyle Street is always good at the weekend if you're looking for some traditional Scots music.

I would agree that City Centre and West End are your best bets. Lots of life outside these areas, but you need to be careful where you go and what pubs you use.

In City Centre there is a broad mix of traditional and modern bars. For the former, try the Pot Still (best range of whisky), Horseshoe Bar (very busy and good craic) or The Bon Accord (good selection of ales), all big enough to accomodate a party of 12. This gives a decent list, and you can follow other links: http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/pubs.html

For clubs, there is a wide selection and vary in age group, music style, etc. Try here for some ideas: http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/clubs.html
