Hi,
My Girlfriend and I will be in NYC in late Sept to early Oct. The only thing wrong with our trip is that we planned it during Australian Rugby League finals and AFL finals time, and I can't imagine missing the grand finals. Are there any bars in New York City that might play the game? I was in Toronto, ON the same time 4yrs ago and I couldn't find a place anywhere that would show them. Thanks in advance! |

try The Australian on W. 38th Street between fifth and sixth avenue. there is also a place called the Sunburnt Cow down somewhere in the East Village area. the former is a very popular sports bar. the bad news - vb is almost impossible to find in the city.

Nevada Smith's, on 3d Ave, between 10-11 Sts or 11-12 Sts, in the East Village. They watch soccer -- I mean football! -- there, so they'd probably watch rugby, too. And if you get a hankering for fish n chips, and buttered scones for tea, then go to A Salt & Battery, and the neighboring Tea & Sympathy, on Greenwhich Ave, between 7th and 8th Aves (more specifically, between West 12 and West 13 Sts) in the West Village.

You might also post your question on askanewyorker.com. Regular poster Marea just returned to her home in Sydney from spending a couple of years living here. She's a great source of info on where to go for the rugby games, as well as where to go for fun!
