Cape Town Dolphin Trail
Posted: Tue January 27, 2009 02:42 PM UTC
Visiting Cape Town Jan 2010 and wanting to know how strenuous this walk is. I am fit but have had a successful hip replacement and enjoy cycling and cliff walks in Cornwall. Any advice would be welcome.
Also comparison between safari experiences at Botlierskop and Aquila.

Havn't done that particular walk myself, but have done the Otter trail which heads west from Storms river - the Dolphin trail goes to the east and apparently the terrain is similar. Be prepared for most of the trail being steep up or steep down. Very little level terrain. It is a rocky coast with many stream/river outlets. Also small patches of forest/bush with low stooped walking. The Otter trail has quite a high drop-out rate - I suspect that Dolphin is similar. A drop-out is not dramatic - there is vehicle access to many points on the trails.

Havn't been to Aquila or Botlierskop either. Guess that Aquila is the more canned/packaged version catering to daytrippers out of Cape Town who insist on having a "safari". Botlierskop is in a more natural setting and is more isolated from big city influences.
