New York City Second Hand Clothing - I forgot the name of the steeet with the many cool shops.
Posted: Mon January 26, 2009 09:26 AM UTC
Hi,

I went to NY more than 10 years ago and am going again soon - but only for an extended weekend. So I have to plan the trip well. I would really like to find this cool street with the many second hand clothing shops. I think it was somewhere near Geenwich village - but am not sure. It sure has the atmosphere as if it was Greenwich. Please if you know anything - let me know.

Thanks a million!

You mean small street-level shops located in the basements of residential townhouses, where they sell used women's clothing? Walk up and down the sidestreets of E. 4 St thru E. 13 St, between 3d Ave and
Ave B. The fun is getting the small-town flavor of the East Village.

There's a little street in the East Village where the shops were but they're no more. "Second-hand Clothing" got replaced by "Vintage," that is, a $10 skirt is now $200. Otherwise the shops turned into overpriced boutiques.
