Re: Which HOTEL in West or North-West coast would you recommend us and why ?? Posted: Mon February 16, 2009 09:37 PM UTC
Hi wrapnet,
Great to hear you have your flights sorted for your trip. I put together Mauritius stuff and got to visit ost of the hotels we use last June.
out of the top rated hotels suggeted above I know that the below can be a bit pricey (mainly 4-5 star properties)
Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa (starting room is a junior suite, but the spa here was my favourite, very beautiful and lives up to its claims)
Legends Hotel
Shandrani Hotel (available all inclusive only, but its a good package includes diving and other extras)
Belle Mare Plage Hotel (available HB only, but very good value sometime in the year....unfortunately not April, a high season)
Sugar Beach Resort (recently developed, pretty stylish)
Hotel 20 Degrees Sud (boutique hotel, unique style but high price tag for what it is)
The following are 3 star properties. Sorry to the above poster and anyone else who likes this hotel but I don't like le coco beach, I think it looks like a lego land butlins and doesn't fit in on the island. It is cheap for a reason....
Best of the rest in the 3+ star group:
Paul et virginie in the north - vernada hotel, well finished, intimate and romantic, restaurant refurbished last year.
Pointe aux biches - my fav 3 star, loved the barefoot concept and the spa kiosks right on the beach which you don't often find
Merville Beach - ok hotel, food is good rooms may need a little revamp but its comfortable
La Pirogue - stayed a night here, good food, liked the big hammocks dotted about the grounds (big enough for 3...or so I found out!) rooms sorta themed like a ship or so I was told. Was ok as a basic hotel
Moneywise I would say to estimate about £4-500 per person as a starting half board price (difficult to say really, depending on where has any discounts, if you are a honeymoon couple, etc.) Really hope the trip goes well for you, I'm sure you will love Mauritius, its such a friendly island.
