Any advice welcome, Posted: Fri January 23, 2009 01:38 AM UTC
Hi Alicante folks,
We've been reading the forum for just under a year now as we were planning to relocate to the area last summer but with the world economy self destructing an all (wry grin), our plans have had to be ammended somewhat.
Anyhoo, just like to say we've found the site really enjoyable and the members pages both entertaining and informative in equal measure, hope you dont mind but my 1st post is a bit of a hello and a Q
1st- is etiquette, is it ok to email members personally or should Qs be posted on the forum untill people email us
2nd- ive noticed theres a few BIKERS on the site, has anyone rode down from Bilboa on a Westerly route in FEB'if so any advice on Weather.accom'b&bs,camping, petrol(tank 115mile range)and any other issues to consider poss'route- Bilboa>Burgos>Valladoid>Salamanca>Caceres>Wilderness>Sevilla>Coast
thanks in advance
steve
ps are there any meet ups around end of Feb start Mar

First question: you can, but there is no guarantee that the member will see the email or choose to reply (not everyone replies to mail from an 'unknown' sender). It is much better to ask questions on the forums and then, perhaps, email those who reply to your questionif you have further requests. Forum questions are seen by VT members all over the world, so you will have a greater chance of speedy answers by posting there.
As for meetings, look at the listings on the 'Meet Members' tab. If there are no meetings for where you are when you are there, why not post your own?
Can't help with bike ride, sorry.

Welcome to VT!
I agree with Leics: if you post a question in the forum, people from other places can also answer. But sometimes they don't, so you can email members personally (make sure they log in frequently, otherwise you can wait months for an answer).
Despite you are not moving here, I hope you visit Alicante!

Hello - I did the same almost 5 years ago and am loving living here. Feel free to contact me if you can use any help. I recommend renting for a period before buying if you're going to move here, so you can get a better idea of what kinds of areas you like and the lay of the land and such.
