Hi

I am planning my trip to LA in March. Will need 3 day accomodation in Hollywood area. Does anyone have any suggestions?
- clean and decent budget accomodation less than USD 100 incl of tax
- free parking or minimal rate
- near to Metro as we plan to leave the car in the hotel while we explore Hollywood

We plan to rent a car (drive to San Diego and Disneyland later part of the trip), but in Hollywood, plan to take the Metro around instead. Please let me know if this is a good idea.

I stayed at a motel 6 just off Hollywood Blvd. in West Hollywood:

the rate was reasonable for that area. A budget hotel, but we felt safe. Easy walking to Manns Chinese theater, Hollywood and Vine center, all the sites in that area. There was a bus stop right down the street to bring you to burbank if you want to go to NBC Studios or we took the subway from the H&Vine center to Universal City Walk.

Thanks for your reply. In fact I think I did saw your reply somewhere in the forum on Motel 6 - I have also look up the review. Some comments are scarry. Please let me know if it is really decent.

Can you let me know these:
- How far is the Metro subway from Motel 6?
- How far is the walk to Hollywood Highland?
- Is parking convenient? (Free or minimal charge?)
- How was breakfast?

After all, I know we should not expect too much from a budget hotel. But if you could give me answers to the above, it will help me to decide.

Not sure if those links will work or not. type the address into google maps, that should help you figure out where it is in relation to sites and the metro. When I checked, it was 1/2 mile from the hotel to the metro stop at hollywood&highland center (kodak theater). Doing a quick rate check on the Motel 6 website, the cost was $72USD a night.
I stayed there in March 2001, so I can't really remember how the breakfast was, but i wouldn't expect more than maybe some muffins and cereal.
We stayed there b/c it was the most budget friendly hotel and the location is excellent. As i mentioned before, there is a bus stop right on Hollywood Blvd, just down the street from the hotel.
We took a taxi over to a car rental place by the airport to pick up a rental car b/c we were flying out of LAX after a road trip (they have free shuttles to LAX from the car rental places).

A bit more expensive but getting great reviews on other sites is the Orchid Suites, right behind Hollywood and Highland shopping center and with free parking.
Maybe worth looking into if you budget allows for something over 100 dollar without tax.
