virtual penpals for schoolage children
Posted: Fri November 7, 2003 12:38 AM UTC
Hello, I am a teacher from Clarenville, Newfoundland, Canada. We are currently doing a unit on Ecuador. I was wondering if anyone knew of a school or schools that I could contact to see if they would correspond with my students. Any hints or suggestions would be a tremendous help.

Thanks,
Earle P.

There is a nice school in Manta, but I don't remember the name. If you want more information, you can contact my friend Manuel, in Ecuador, and he will give more information (write in spanish !) : surpacifico@easynet.net.ec

Hi.
After reading your posting, I thought it would be helpfull
to let you know that the Colegio Americano (American High School) in Quito, has a fairly large number if not all, of its students, able to communicate in english as I suppose would be your need.
If you are still interested will locate an electronic address for it.
Good luck and congratulations on your project.

Hi,

My name is karen. I am taking my two sons to Ecuador in July(ages 10 and 13) and would like to have them be pen pals with two children in Ecuador. I have been looking for months and have had a hard time locating a pen pal service. Do you have tips.

My hope is that maybe the children could meet during our visit and learn about each others cultures.

Thanks,
Karenmindy

I am actually going to teach at the American School of Quito www.fcaq.k12.ec . I don't know what grades your kids are in, but if you want to try to send me an e-mail, I will be more than happy to see what i can do when I get there...

Try the american school of quito. School where I graduated from. They always use penpals if you talk to any of the teachers.

Good luck, let me know.
