Hi Gricha

The station is about 20 kilometers from the Jhb station, or about 30 kilometers from Pretoria station, both from which Intercape leave. There are taxi's from the airport to the station, but how long it would take is dependant on the time of day. There is also a airport schuttle from the airport to Pretoria.
The Greyhound bus is also an option ( www.greyhound.co.za ) and they have schuttles busses from the airport.

Enjoy your trip

Regards

Mike

Gricha, which station do you want to go to? Johannesburg's main train station is Park station and the Jhb bus station is at the Rotunda. They are about 200 metres from each other, but I have heard that it is not a safe 200m to walk alone with your luggage. InterCape and Greyhound will go to the Rotunda, taxis will take you where you want to go and the driver will probably help you a bit to carry your luggage into the station. If you use InterCape/Greyhound, find other passengers going the same way as you and ask if you can form a group to handle luggage and security. (I am not up to date with the security issue at Johannesburg train/bus stations)

Coordinates for Google Earth or Maps:
Rotunda: -26.196441 28.040505
Park Station: -26.196323 28.043214
OR Tambo airport: -26.133293 28.233342
(You can copy/paste the above numbers direct into Google Maps/Earth)

The driving distance is 28km. In light traffic 20 minutes, in heavy traffic an hour or more.

Have investigated this a bit more by phoning Intercape and Greyhound . . .

Both run the route Pretoria to Maputo. The stops are:
Pretoria Station, Midrand, Jhb PARK station (not Rotunda), Witbank, Nelspruit, etc. . . .

Neither of them stop at OR Tambo airport.

There was a company (Impala Tours) who ran shuttles between the airport and the Rotunda. Apparently they are out of business now.

The recognised safe way to join a bus at Park station is to take a meter taxi to the busses at Park station. The meter taxis are allowed to enter the secure area in the vicinity of the busses. (Do not take the mini-bus taxis - they will drop you far from the the busses).

The phone number for the Intercape office at Park station is +27 11 333 9618. They are open from 05:30 to 22:00. (I got the secure taxi information from them).

The information desk at the airport arrivals will guide you on finding an approved meter taxi. They told me it costs about R150 which sounds like a lot of money - it is half the price of the bus ticket to Maputo! (See if you can find someone to share the taxi?)
