Mexico City to Cancun in 4 days, what should I see & how?

Hi there,

I am thinking about going from Mexico City to Cancun in about four days. I was thinking about doing possibly Puebla, Palenque and Chichén-Itzá as stops. I am an independent traveler and Spanish speaker, possibly taking buses. Is it doable? What buses would you take? What stops would you do? Any good overnight buses that I can take? Any other places where you would stop? thanks!

it's certainly doable.
i have done that trip a couple of times myself.
all the places you mention are interesting, but palenque is a bit out of the way and not on the route between mexico city and cancun.
Chichén-Itzá would be an obvious stop if you are in to mayan ruins, but puebla is nice too and so is chetumal even if it's not as well known.

How would you get to Palenque? Is there a big city nearby that I can take a bus to/from Mexico City / Cancun?

i'd think you can take a bus to both mexico city and cancun from palenque.
it will just make the journey quite a bit longer as palenque is a bit out of the way.

I advise to visit Tulum, Palenque and Chichen but many others cities should be visit! (Uxmal, Merida, Valladolid, Celestun...)
