Lima Advice on Cusco or Machu Picchu hotels and train schedules.

I will be travelling to Cusco on 01-22-09. I was wondering whether I should book a hotel in Cusco or Machu Picchu. I will be departing Cusco on 01-27-09 at 8:00am and I am wondering how easy it will be if I was to take a train from Machu Picchu back to Cusco in order to make my flight. Thank you.

You must take the train back the day before your flight.
I think that at this time of year and your likely arrival time in Cusco makes it unnecessary to pre-book a hotel room.

You must take the train back the day before your flight.
I think that at this time of year and your likely arrival time in Cusco makes it unnecessary to pre-book a hotel room. The same goes for MP.

One warning though. I am just back (in Colombia now) from Lima and saw that a lot of flight to/from Cusco are delayed and even cancelled due to bad weather at this moment in the Cusco area. My (LAN Peru) flights, though not to/from the Sierras, also had hours of delays because of that.
Cusco airport is a "visual only" airport.
So donīt plan too tightly, would be my advice.
