Fiji Fiji Floods
Posted: Sun January 18, 2009 12:11 PM UTC
Hi, I am supposed to be travelling to Fiji in mid Feb, staying at the Naviti resort (Betwen Nadi and Sigatoka). With the current weather and flood damage I am not sure if I should cancel and re book for later. Does anyone have any info about the area and what conditions are like? I cant seem to get any up to date details.
Thanks

Hi, my husband and i have just returned from fiji on sat 17th jan. The floods have gone but it is still quite wet over there. We stayed on Mana island so we didnt have a lot of trouble. When we went back to the main land to catch the plain it was wet but getting better. You should check with your acc to make sure the resort is still ok we heard a lot of storys about hotels with water running through the roof into the rooms below. Dont ring your airline as they will say all is well. You need to ring the resort and hope they tell you the truth. When we left all the staff were telling us they are expecting a lot of rain now till at least April. Saying that we had a ball rain or no rain. Hope i have helped Donna

hi there,

well the floods are gone. but the rain is still around. if u are staying at a resort then water cuts should not be a problem. i was in sigatoka over the weekend and it was good. it did rain but very little. besides, Naviti is at a much higher for any flooding to occur there.

cheers
