Rain in Europe is not like rain in India. It is not so heavy, and does not last for as long. It does not affect the movement of people or traffic, and occurs throughout the year (though less so in more southern European countries).
European rain is likely to last for a couple of hours (and can often be quite light) or less, then stop (and possibly start again later). You will be fine with a waterproof jacket or coat, sensible shoes and an umbrella (you could buy these when you arrive if you do not already have them).

Taking a taxi to and from work everyday will not be cheap. You should be able to walk 2km easily (even in the rain).

Trains to Aveiro leave from Porto-Campanha station (the subway from the airport stops there, takes about 35 minutes from the airport). There are plenty of trains, journey takes about an hour.
Enjoy your visit!
