Bali staying at Sanur Paradise Plaza
Posted: Sun January 18, 2009 07:52 AM UTC
Hi,

My wife and newborn baby will be travelling to Bali and staying at the Sanur Paradise Plaza in a couple of days. Wondering if there is a cheap and close place to get our clothes washed as we don't want to pay the exobitant high prices at the hotel. Also, is there anything to do around this hotel? eg. inexpensive places to eat, things to see, knock off clothes to buy. I've heard that the locals accept American money but is it better to have Rupias?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Get your $ changed when you arrive I would suggest if you havent got transfers already paid to exchange about $20 to get you around then change it as you need it. I have been to Bali 14 times and never paid for anything in any currency other than rupiah. I am not familiare with Sanur but I am sure if you have a wander you will find a small laundry close by I knbow what you mean about the cost of laundry in hotels!!! You wont need a lot of clothes for the baby and dont' be odfended or worried if the local women want to touch and hold the baby they adore babies and kids we took our granddaughter at 9 months and every shop we visited the women took her from us even the hotel staff male and female loved her. If you are considering buying any baby clothes vist Ramanyana Department Store in Denpasar good quality and cheap. Enjoy

I have emailed a friend that works at the plaza apartments (both hotels share a sister relationship) in regards to a laundry close by to the hotel and he has replied that the laundry within the hotel is still open and you just need to buy tokens from the hotel. 1 token is 15000 rupiah and get 1 powder>
Along the shores of Sanur there are many places to eat and of course shopping for knock off clothes is easy. I would advise you change to rupiah's as it is easier to converse with the locals on the same currency. Bali is very easy to get around just hire a driver for the day to see the island, also be prepared for lots of touching etc of your baby, balinese people love babies and children
