my father was statione there in the navy in 1953 and 1954. we are planning a visit to kodiak. he would like to go on base to see how much it has changed since he was there and to relive the memories. how do we get a pass to do this?

I would try the Public Affairs dept to see what is needed. If it is like an Air Force base you would likely need a sponsor but the PA people should be able to help you. Good luck and thanks to your father for his service!!

I've been on the USCG base here in Kodiak many times times but I just called there to make sure nothing had changed (487-5555). At the gate they will direct you to the security office for a day pass. They will also help him find where he worked and lived back then, because he won't recognize much as it is always growing and changing. Just need a picture ID and vehicle registration/rental agreement. Good luck and have fun!
