I would like to pre-book a taxi from Marrakech airport to Essaouira on arrival by the late EasyJet (19:20 so missing the last bus). Anyone know of a local taxi company or agency to arrange this in advance with an agreed price and assurance of reliable service?

Hi! Outside Marrakesh airport is a large taxi rank, with a board that lists set prices to the main cities and towns etc.

I'm sorry that I haven't pre-booked a taxi from the airport, but I'm sure that there will be someone along soon who has, and will have more info.

Although there are prices listed for the taxi to various locations, taxi drivers blatantly disregard these and will apply their utmost devious tactics to overcharge you - sack them all!!

I'm sorry, but from my experiences of taxi drivers in Marrakech, they've mostly been OK.
On my second visit, I got a taxi from the airport to Marrakech and checked the price with the driver-it matched the price on the board- then when I arrived near my destination, he automatically organised someone to take me to my accommodation, with a trolley to carry my case.


On my first visit, I stayed in Gueliz, and used the petit taxis quite a bit. I checked the price with my hotel reception for the fare to Djemma el Fnaa, which should have been 10 dh, some drivers tried to charge me 20 dh, but if I held out 10dh, they accepted this with no problem. Also, if I said please (afak) and thank you (Shukran) or Thank You Very Much (Shukran Bessef)in Berber, the price was automatically dropped.
On the whole, I found the taxi drivers in Marrakech to be very helpful.
