Hi Everyone,

My plane lands in Lima at 5:25am and I've read that it takes about 1.5 hours to clear customs, baggage, etc... Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to check in and clear security for outgoing flights? More specifically, I would like to book a flight to Cusco as early as possible on the same day but I would also like to leave myself with a comfortable amount of time in between flights in case of any unexpected complications.

The realistic flight times to Cusco are: 09:25, 11:25, 12:10, 12:20, and 13:15.

Can anyone advise on a safe flight time?

Clearing immigration, getting luggage and clearing customs is quite swift. And if you can check-in on-line with e.g. LAN (48 hrs in advance,) the checking in for the CUZ flight is also quite swift.

I am in Lima right now, and my flight inbound to LIM as well as connecting (to Chiclayo) went well within 1.5 hours.

Take the earliest flight to Cusco from Lima. I've been warned that the later flights have a higher risk for cancellations due to winds/weather conditions. Goodluck & enjoy beautiful Peru!

Marissa is absolutely right and especially at this very moment there have been/still are problems with the weather for CUZ flights.
The flight I mentioned, that I took to Chiclayo 2 weeks ago, had a 2 hours delay because the airplane came in from CUZ with delay due to weather.

Also I have been reading about civilian protests in the CUZ area and yesterday on TV here I saw that the train from Cusco to Machu Picchu had to turn back.

So plan with ample time and be prepared.

Is there any more information regarding the civilian protest? Is this something that is common? How will it affect routine travel in the area?
